It is my goal as a qualified taxidermist to represent your trophy in an attitude of anatomical correctness in both form and habitation in your home as it was in the wild. 

I started doing taxidermy in 1993 after watching an Archie and Bubba Phillips taxidermy video on skinning and mounting a largemouth bass. After mounting my first fish, an alligator gar in a water splash scene, I was hooked. I decided taxidermy was what I wanted to learn. I went to WASCO and met Sallie Dahmes. I showed her some photos of some taxidermy work I had done at a local shop. She encouraged me to go for it. I bought some taxidermy equipment, tanning supplies and videos. Five months later I entered my first competition at the NTA Southern Regional Taxidermist show. 

The Late Mr. Charles Strunk met me at the registration desk and advised me against entering as a novice as I would not get any points. I tried to tell him that these were not competition mounts; they were a few customers’ pieces and mine. I said, open or professional, Mr. Strunk looked at me and said, Masters. I told him I wanted some of the pretty ribbons and this was my first show, and I was afraid. He then told me that I would win some ribbons, they might not be first place blue, but the critique would be to my benefit in my growth as a taxidermy artist.  Masters it was, first fish ever-mounted master division, honorable mention first game head moose honorable mention. First life-size bear, second place. In all 7 mounts 7 ribbons in first ever show. 

The taxidermy certification process is a long and costly procedure. I am certified in BIRD taxidermy, FISH taxidermy and MAMMAL taxidermy; I have never entered any reptiles in the past. So any sportsman that wants a quality taxidermy mount done in a professional and timely manner should take the time and effort to seek out this fine artist in their area. You will be rewarded for your efforts as you were in the woods and water outdoors.
